Akha large duct flute

The Akha in Laos play a larger type of chulu which has an external blowing tube fixed at a 45 degree angle to the body of the instrument to allow the player to reach the two finger holes.

Played only for funerals, it is kept outside the house, under the roof, and must not be taken inside. Its melody guides the dead person to his new country.
