Khamu flute with external blowing tube

external blowing tube

Referred to in Khamu by the word toot, a general word for flutes. “The body of the instrument is a bamboo tube @ 50 cm. long and 1.5 cm. in diameter; 3 finger holes are cut at the “tail” end, which is left open. As mouthpiece, a smaller bamboo tube @ .5 cm. in diameter is attached to the body. The player blows air through this tube towards a blade at the farther end of an aperture cut into the larger tube”.
